Örlygur Smári, commonly known as Öggi, was born on June 30th 1971 in Reykjavík, Iceland. He has been active in the Icelandic music business since the early 90´s. In the year 2000 he wrote the Icelandic ESC entry ‘Tell Me!' After that he moved to Sweden (the song did well, he moved for other reasons) where he worked as a sound engineer, songwriter and producer. In 2005 Öggi moved back to Reykjavík and opened his own music studio. Since then he has worked with various Icelandic artists as a producer, sound engineer and songwriter. His most recent work includes producing the platinum selling album ‘Allt fyrir ástina' by Icelandic ESC legend Paul Oscar, for which Öggi also composed the three first singles. All three of them have reached number one in the Icelandic charts. Öggi also wrote and produced the Icelandic entry, This Is My Life, for the ESC 2008. Öggi has recently been involdved in a lot of hugely successful dance projects as you can hear from his playlist, but as a songwriter and producer he has contributed to many different kinds of music. He is a real professional with a positive attitude to his work. |
